| What is a DDA?
| A DDA (D:Net Digital Album) is a personal digital content aggregator; in short, a new format device for the delivery and enjoyment of digital content. It is patented software, delivered either on a USB stick or as a direct digital download that gives you complete control over the digital content you buy. Originally designed with the music industry in mind but versatile enough to be applied to other areas of popular entertainment such as sports and cooking, each music DDA can contain an artist’s album (in mp3 format) plus bonus material you won’t find on the CD or digital download versions. The bonus material can come by way of: promotional videos, remixes, interviews, press releases, biographies, priority access to purchase artist concert tickets, exclusive forums, photo’s, lyrics, cover art, a Facebook application, live news updates and more. And one of the best things is that every time you are on online, it connects you to our online system to offer you any up-to-the minute new artist content that has become available. It even comes with a free mobile phone application, via this you can enjoy all YOUR music, other content, news and the forums anytime, anywhere. A DDA is more than just the music. For further information on what the DDA offers, see the What is DDA? section on this website. Current DDA’s are purchased through regular music retail stores or online . . .Check it out.

| What is the difference between a DDA and a website?
| You own the content on the DDA and do not have to be online to enjoy it. It’s not a streaming service. It is download and own.

| How many DDAs are you planning to release?
Just as CD’s largely replaced vinyl records, DVD’s replaced VHS and mp3’s / digital downloads are beginning to replace CD’s, we see the DDA as being a huge part of the next phase of music evolution. As wonderful as mp3’s and digital downloads are, there is one major thing missing when compared to CD’s – there is nothing to physically have and hold. Until now. With the DDA, you can touch and feel it. You own it. And you will eventually own a whole lot more than the average music CD with all of the extra content that becomes available for each DDA over the life of its release (as decided by the artist). So a simple answer is that you will see an increasing amount of DDA’s available over the coming year. It is intended that eventually, where music is concerned, all artists will see the extended potential of the DDA format and will embrace it as being the ultimate tool for connecting with their audience. In the case of DDA’s being used for content other than music, just as DVD’s became the standard format to replace VHS, we also predict an increase in companies, brands and clubs choosing the DDA format to promote their content to their market, clients and members.
| What about older albums? Or will it just be new releases? What about different genres of music?
| Some of the titles being released this year are albums that hit the market on CD in 2008 – check them out here. Melbourne’s Lior has produced a DDA which is self titled and comes pre-loaded with his first two albums and their related content. So you see, just as older movies have found a new audience on DVD (with the capability of including extra content collected from the editing floor and delivered in the ‘special features’ section), we are sure that in the future you will see some classic music albums released as DDAs with exclusive previously unreleased content. You’ll also soon find a large cross-section of musical genres from Classical to Punk and from Blues to World - and everything in between. The DDA format is suitable to all sorts of music in all sorts of countries and from huge selling artists to more niche artists.
| What will a music DDA cost me?
| Well, that’s up to the artists who release them – and the record companies they partner with, however we believe a standard 12 track DDA album should be available to you at pretty much the same price as its CD equivalent. The point of this new format is to offer a new millennium way to purchase, store and enjoy music and its related content – at no extra cost than what you’re used to paying.
| I want one of these. Where can I get one?
| At present the titles released on USB are available from Leading Edge, HMV, Virgin and Sanity Music retailers with others soon more to follow. To find a stockist near you, use the Store Finder on this website which includes a mail order retailer (Waterfront Records). Links to these stores are available at the bottom of this website – click on a logo. Many artists will also choose to have their DDA’s available for purchase as a direct download from their or their label’s website (such as Geoffrey Gurrumul’s DDA which you can buy directly from Skinny Fish Music website) and again from Waterfront Records. Many artists are also selling their DDAs on USBs at gigs.
